- pacbi statement -
In solidarity with the Palestinian people and their ongoing struggle for justice, Foglifter Press is proud to join the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) and support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. We stand against the violence, occupation, and apartheid faced by Palestinians and commit to boycotting cultural products, collaborations, and events funded or sponsored by the Israeli government.
We believe in the power of art for liberation, and we support those who imagine and create with justice in mind.

- post-us election statement -
“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced"
-James Baldwin
We at Foglifter are heartbroken and resolute in the wake of the 2024 Presidential Election. Like so many of you — our comrades, our beloveds — we are filled with a profound worry for the future, and for the safety, visibility and dignity of our community.
Yet, even as we sit with our collective worry, we at Foglifter are channeling this passionate energy into renewed commitment. We will press on, emboldened and reignited by our mission: uplifting, celebrating, and amplifying groundbreaking queer and trans writing, championing the multi-marginalized — our youth, our elders, our BIPOC family, and disabled folx — and, most pressingly now, resisting. Resisting the forces that seek to erase our existence from the tapestry of this nation, to silence our shouts of protest and dim our light.
Foglifter is and will remain defiantly here. We are resolved to keep speaking out, taking up space, and challenging a literary landscape that must reckon with our voices — not only as part of the national outcry, but also as forces driving the massive shifts, reorganizing and deconstructing of the systems and institutions that stand in the way of the bold, transgressive future of freedom and pride that Foglifter envisions in all we do.
The fear, rage, and grief we feel in this moment are real. But as we take up the call to resist, let us remember: resistance demands care — collective and personal. In these coming days, months, years, know that your well-being is an essential part of this moment. Rest, nourish yourself, and remember that you matter. We need you — your voice, your power, your words, your presence — now more than ever.

- Foglifter is in solidarity with the people of palestine -
Foglifter is in solidarity with the people of Palestine, and joins the call for both an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the 75+ year Israeli occupation. Foglifter condemns settler colonialism and the horrific acts of genocide being perpetuated by Israel and backed by the West. We condemn the United States government and military — currently deploying soldiers to join Israeli forces — all while its citizens starve and live on the streets.
As many trans and queer folks have poured into the street waving banners of support for Palestine, some of us have been criticized for supporting people who, quote, “hate us.” We will not allow such division and distraction — which also erases the existence of trans and queer Palestinians and their contributions — to excuse the ongoing genocide against a people violently dispossessed of their land, sovereignty, and freedom.
LGBTQIA2S+ people in the United States and abroad are painfully familiar with the surrounding governments calling for our murders, deaths, torture, or, at best, watching us die and silently celebrating — we will not and cannot be neutral in the face of genocide.
We also express solidarity with our Jewish communities who are and have been calling for ceasefire, while navigating deep grief and suffering over civilian lives lost during resistance to the occupation.
As Foglifter’s Editor-In-Chief, I have added our name to the Writers for Palestine statement and urge other publishers and literary presses to do so as well. We remain committed to publishing queer and trans Palestinian, SWANA, and Jewish anti-Zionist perspectives, among many others, and amplifying these voices now and forever.
Free Palestine,
Signed,
Michal ‘MJ’ Jones, Editor-In-Chief
